Matthew Santos In-Store 6/24 Pictures

We had our second in-store meet & greet event with singer Matthew Santos this past Tuesday (we also had him in-store last December) and below are the pictures from the event! The event really didnt turn out as expected, due to a scheduling change we had to have it at 12 Noon and it was too early for all parties involved haha. But its all good, we got to know Matthew and his band a lot better and next time Im going to bring our Nintendo Wii into the store, apparently he is a Smash Brothers expert haha -- I need some competition! After the event, Matthew and his band got to do a little shopping. Matthew was feeling the black suede Alife Chasers and ended up copping them!

We also ended up going to his show later that night at the Power Center. He was performing with a group from Australia called the Waifs, but we only stayed for his performance (it was a long day!). We had only seen him perform solo before and he was great with the whole band, they definitely add an extra level to the performance (plus it was alot of different songs). It was a decent sized venue (1000 people) but I could only wonder how Matthew feels going from "stadium status" at the Glow In The Dark tour in front of 35,000 frenzied hip hop fans to performing in front of 1,000 subdued old white folks haha. With a voice as good as his, he makes it work haha.

On a side note, his bass guitarist Graham bought the 3Sixteen Crosses tshirt from us and wore it during the concert! Check the pics from the concert below...sorry if some are blurry!

These Revolver Fitteds from Crooks & Castles are still to come from their Summer line, I just found a preview of them on Strictly Fitteds. They match up with alot of the shirts Crooks has been releasing lately. These ones aren't made by New Era though, as New Era wont allow guns on their hats, but they are done by Elm Company (the same company that does 3Sixteen's hats) and the quality looks dope. Meet Matthew Santos TOMORROW at Motivation!

Singer Matthew Santos will be having a meet & greet / autograph session with fans tomorrow, Tuesday June 24th, from Noon to 1 PM! Come out and meet Matthew for his second time appearing at Motivation and talk to him about how hes grown as an artist since performing all over the world with Kanye, Lupe & company on the Glow in the Dark tour! In case you didnt know, Matthew Santos is a singer and is most famous for his collaborations with Lupe Fiasco, including the hit song Superstar. Bring your camera!

Music will be provided by Dj Mo Beatz...coming out for that is worth it alone haha!

Feds Takin' Pictures

Im sure most of you have heard of Google Street View - I heard of it when it debuted - but if you havent seen it lately you need to check it out -- its CRAZY. In case you havent heard of it, its like Google Maps, where you can search for any address, but this time they show you real pictures of the address, not a map, and you can go up and down streets and see real pictures of everything which is nuts! They have really expanded what areas they have pictures of; pretty much all of Ann Arbor is covered and so Im sure most decent sized city areas are. I found pictures of the street/house I grew up in in Pittsburgh and my high school and just everything is on there! I typed in the store address and found the picture below -- we werent even open yet, but had our "Coming Soon" poster on the window, so it was taken around September 2007. Check it out at the link below, it could honestly keep you entertained for hours at work!

Freshjive vs The Jewish Defense League...

In case you havent been to TheHundreds.com lately, you need to check out this feature on Freshjive & The Jewish Defense League. Coincidentally, we just picked up Freshjive a few months ago (most of their stuff is coming in this fall though), but anyways the JDL is super angry at them for a few of the tshirts that touch on the Muslim / Jewish conflict in Isreal that are a part of their Spring collection. The ironic thing is that the owner and mind behind Freshjive is Jewish. Its been a minute since we heard from Jerrit and the fellas over at Cake Clothing, but they are back like cooked crack with their 3rd season of the line! As soon as we got these in today they were selling right out of the box -- it seems the guys cant resist having a model on their shirt haha. Like the past seasons of Cake, most of the designs revolve around models, and the use of colors on the shirts is dope. Alife Lux Tweed Everybody Mids

These bad boys are a part of Alife's Fall footwear offering and will be coming to Motivation when they release around August/September time. Alife is really experimenting with a lot of different materials for their shoes (like the nylon parachute packs) and its a good look; these are extra clean and would go with any outfit. They also lowered their prices on all of their regular shoes for Fall but these are made of premium materials and will be hitting for about $150, so start saving up!

Thanks to all who came out to the Tyga Listening Party last Friday....which turned into a Dj Mo Beatz listening party LOL! Sony was really late to the event so we didnt have any music from Tyga so Mo Beatz did his thing on the 1s and 2s, which was fine with everyone! It was raining and was one of our smaller events (about 75 people came through during the 2 hours) but that was all good because it meant there was enough food and Vitamin Water for all haha. Summer 3Sixteen Preview...

Tyga Listening Party on Friday!

This Friday from 4 to 6 we will be having a listening party for hip hop artist Tyga's new album "No Introduction" courtesy of Sony Records. There will be free food, drinks provided by Vitamin Water, and Dj Mo Beatz will be spinning a set that includes tracks from Tyga's album.

About Tyga:

Tyga was found and signed by Gym Class Hero's Travis McCoy last year and has the current club smash "Coconut Juice" ft. Travis McCoy. He is affiliated with Lil Wayne and Young Money Entertainment. He was also featured on the Fall Out Boy Arms Race Remix.

We just got in our complete shipment of Undr Crwn Spring Part 2 the other day and its been getting a lot of good reviews in the store! The complete Spring season (Parts 1 & 2) for Undrcrwn had the theme "What if the Fab 5 went to University of Hawaii" (seriously!) so for Spring 1 we got a lot of Fab 5 related pieces and now you are seeing alot of Hawaii/tropical based pieces for Spring 2. Purple Gang Clothing was started last year and is based on the notorious Detroit mobsters who called themselves the Purple Gang. DNA Show @ The Blind Pig

Last weekend we went to a concert at the Blind Pig which featured a bunch of acts including Motivation fam DNA! DNA consists of Chanse (real name Jiro) and Trendz (Kenta) and I met them when the store opened and finally got a chance to see them perform for the first time (only took seven months haha...) and they were actually pretty dope! You know I was somewhat involved in the music industry for the past 5 years so I usually dont feel unsigned acts (dont take it personal...lol) but these guys are good, and have a tight stage presence and chemistry together. I guess thats because they are real life brothers haha. I had only heard a few tracks before and they weren't live so I wasnt sure what to expect of their live show but came away impressed...check the pics I took below and check out their myspace HERE for more info & music!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, but Ive been busy working on some future Motivation projects...
