Motivation Part 2 Mixtape Cover & Tracklist!

Motivation 2, the mixtape, will be available for free with purchase at the store late this week/early next week, and here is a first look at the cover and tracklist! This one features over 50 tracks seemlessly mixed and remixed together by Djs Mick Boogie, Benzi, and newcomer Neoteric. All three did their thing on it and I gotta say it is just as good, if not better, than the first one, which was a hard feat to top. The one and only Lil Jon handles the hosting duties on this one, and its also presented by Cake Clothing, whose "Chopped & Screwed" design is seen on the cover -- co-branding at its finest! It will also be available for free download soon, but stop by the store to get a physical copy with the full cover...Ill even autograph it for you LOL!

Kidz In The Hall Interview

Check out this Kidz In the Hall video interview by Eighty81.com from when they were in Cleveland right after they came to the shop. Wardrobe provided by Motivation lol.

First Look at Play Cloths Fitted Hats

As I told you in the MAGIC recap post, we will be one of the select retailers to carry the Clipse's new brand, Play Cloths, when it debuts this November. Here is a first look at the fitted hats they will be dropping courtesy of StrictlyFitteds.com (check out the link, they list us as one of the main retailers). The running guy is their brand mascot, Jack, and he represents youth and forward movement. The exclamation point is also seen throughout their line. Check out the hats below:

About 2 weeks ago Indra and I attended the Heineken Red Star Tour when it was in Detroit (yeah I know, I know -- Im posting this LATE). Anyways R&B singer Dwele was performing at the concert and our very own Mick Boogie was the Dj, so you know we had to go! Mick has been djing various legs of the tour (there is a different R&B/soul artist(s) at every stop on the tour) and it was good to see him in Detroit. The event was at the Fillmore, and we also got to meet Slum Village out there -- look for a Mick Boogie & Slum Village mixtape coming soon! Here are the few pictures we took:

Mick warmed up the crowd before Dwele came on (click to enlarge!)
AZ was in the house as was Rick from Burn Rubber (didnt get a picture though!)

Mick Boogie & Fly.Union - Close Doors, Open Windows Mixtape

Ohio artists Fly.Union just dropped this dope mixtape with our very own Mick Boogie! You might remember they had a track on the Motivation mixtape "Scenerio 2008" that a lot of people were feeling "Fly Dot U...Where Dreams Come True!". Anyways this mixtape is called Close Doors, Open Windows and contains about 10 original tracks and 10 freestyles. A lot of the subject matter has to do with streetwear and sneakers, and each member has a pretty distinct, tight flow. Its definitely worth the download (link is below) -- look for us playing it in the store and hopefully we will have some physical copies soon to give out!

Download the mixtape HERE.

Coincidently this is also the song on the album where he raps about him being an "Alife tag popper" so it fits haha....check out pics below and look for the video out soon!

Las Vegas - MAGIC August 2008 Recap!

Hey everyone sorry for the lack of posting lately but we've been crazy busy at Motivation since we got back from Vegas!! New Fall shipments have been arriving each day since we got back (including 4 on the day we got back), but more on those within the next few days!

Here is the recap of our trip to Vegas for the MAGIC Clothing Convention, which is a bi-yearly convention where EVERY clothing brand (not just streetwear brands) show off their upcoming collections to buyers. Me, Indra, and her sister Sonia went and it was a ton of fun but we also had a ton of meetings so our days were packed! We picked up some new brands including one I am real excited about, Play Cloths, which is the new brand from The Clipse; its dropping in only 60 stores worldwide and we will have it in stock starting in November at Motivation! More on the other brands once we get them in stock...now onto the pictures/recap:

Thanks to a hook up from our good friend DJ, we stayed at the Wynn hotel which is a 5-star hotel and was ridiculous to say the least, I never stayed at anything like it. I didnt get too many pictures of the inside (next time lol) but lets just say the casino had a lot of tables with $300 minimums and there is a mall inside of it with only about 20 stores such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Manolo Blahnik, Dior...and a Ferrari dealership! Another thing that was crazy is you could get a "car" from the hotel instead of taking a taxi and the cars were Rolls Royce Phantoms....!

Here is some pictures of the hotel and our room:

The Wynn & its new twin Encore (opening soon)
Some huge lighted waterfall on the hotel grounds..it was about 100 feet tall
I only got pictures of the bathroom in our room because it was so ridiculous, it was about the size of my bedroom. The water in the tub to the side of the shower came out in a waterfall in the middle of the tub.
Flatscreen while you brush your teeth is so necessary
View from the room, 54th floor...the Wynn has its own golf course in the middle of the Vegas strip.
There were about 7 or 8 restaurants in the hotel and all the ones we went to were amazing. We went to the cheaper ones, meaning breakfast for 3 was about $70 each morning lol.
This pineapple fried rice was our favorite...and it came served in a pineapple lol
The first day we just explored around the hotel and surrounding hotels, tried to go to Undftd and Stussy (they were closed), got some good food, and went to the Hardrock and some casinos. Check out the pool at the Wynn below, it had this long 500 foot channel that had bridges over it that you could swim under to another part of the pool...crazy!
This was the pool at Caesar's Palace hotel which was equally as ridiculous...only in Vegas haha
The next day was the first day of MAGIC and we spent the entire day at the show meeting with many of our brands.
This is the streetwear section, S.L.A.T.E., of the MAGIC show, it was pretty massive and only something like 1/10th of the entire show! Click picture for a better view...I got pictures at a decent amount of the brand's booths we went to, but we were rushing so much from meeting to meeting (it was a hectic first day!) I couldn't get one at all of them. Click the pictures and you might get some previews of some upcoming seasons...

Ralph from Rocksmith
Teron from Undr Crwn (whattup to Jay too!)Some of the Orisue crew (Wally, Mike, Alain)We ran into the guys from District 81 (clothes coming very soon to Motivation)
Scotty from The Hundreds...thanks for all the gear! The Hundreds laced all of us...check out the Hundreds x Disney (Lost Boys) pictures in the background, this was the outside of their booth!Ease from Mishka
That night we ate dinner with our good friend Inder at the Wynn buffet (think all you can eat crab legs, jumbo shrimp, and gourmet stuff you've never seen) then tried to get into the Crooks & Castles Playboy party but the line was ridiculous EVEN THOUGH WE HAD PASSES but at least we got a free Crooks cigar I guess... We ended up partying with our friends from Orisue and had a great night anyways. Everyone from Orisue is mad cool and down to earth, look for some more stuff between us soon! After like 5 years of knowing them, I also got to finally meet Lexx and Wexx from Tapemasters Inc. (the mixtape Djs) in person as they do marketing for Orisue now too...nice finally meeting you two and congrats on the promotion!

We partied at Pure I believe was the name of the club, it was inside of the MGM. Here is me and Lexx of Tapemasters Inc./Orisue:
Vince from Orisue and his lady...hook me up with those samples haha:Tash from The Alkohliks ended up performing at the club...I don't think half of the crowd knew who he was unfortunately...
Everyone was acting kind of crazy by the end of the night especially Yass, the intern from France (middle)The second day of the show was our craziest as we had back-to-back-to-back meetings and they were all at different show venues. First thing, me and Matt from Dope Couture had to get up super early for a meeting with New Era at MAGIC -- all I can say is if you think we have a lot of hats now (150+), wait a few months haha!

New Era's booth was one of the biggest I saw at MAGIC, here is part of the outside:
Right as we were leaving the meeting Big Black from Rob & Big came into the booth to check out the upcoming fitteds, I got a picture with him as he left, he was real cool:
I then went to say whats up to Russell from District 81 as their booth was right by New Era's:
Then I had to book it over to PROJECT, which is another clothing show that is part of MAGIC but at a different convention center, and met up with Indra and Sonia. It has more like trendy clothing I guess and alot of girls clothing from smaller brands but some streetwear brands like Alife, Hellz Bellz, Married to the Mob, etc. showed over there. We met with these brands over there as well as some other new brands we will be adding to our mix! PROJECT definitely has a different vibe, its more mature and much of the craziness from MAGIC isn't found there haha, heres some pictures:
Cass from Hellz BellzLeah from Married to the MobAlthough they weren't exhibiting, we ran into the guys from Dope Couture (Chris, BJ, Matt...whattup!) at Project and finally got a picture together:
Indra ran into the guys from that show Sunset Tan...I guess they have a line of jeans coming out...no comment lol:
I also ran into the big homie Brick from Timebomb Spot in Pittsburgh, they are one of the original streetwear stores, been open for 12+ years. 3 years ago I was trading him Mick Boogie mixtapes for Crooks & Castles t-shirts and now I have my own streetwear store thanks to advice from guys like him!
We ended up having our Alife meetings at the same time...whattup Mike!
After a long day of meetings and scouting brands at PROJECT we had one last stop at the Pallazo hotel:
Up in one of the suites we had a meeting with the people behind Play Cloths and the Clipse! Play Cloths is the Clipse's new clothing line and it is dropping in only 60 hand selected stores worldwide this Winter...one of which will be Motivation :). The line is real clean and reminds me somewhat of BBC without the crazy colors and crazy pricepoint haha. Its a full line too, they really came correct the first time around!

Malice was in the suite when we got there and Pusha came as we were leaving but I didn't have the chance to get a pic with him, but they were both really down to earth.

Malice of the Clipse & Rashad from Play Cloths (he is wearing a sample shirt with their main logo)
"Its a celebration b*tches!"
Later that night we went to dinner with Tapemasters Inc. and the guys from Dope Couture at Tao, which is this crazy nightclub/restaurant inside of the Venetian. Stephen Marbury of the Knicks happened to be eating a few tables away from us haha. Bill for dinner: Almost $500 for the 10 of us, even though some people only got appetizers haha, thats Vegas for you! There was this 40 foot Bhudda statue on the wall in the room we were eating in, enlarge picture to see it:
Presentation is key...
Then after like 20 cab rides and not being able to get into the Undr Crwn/Mos Def party EVEN THOUGH WE HAD PASSES AGAIN (note to self: arrive earlier to parties next year!) we went to the Antenna Mag/New Era/Foundation party at Mixx at Manadalay Bay.
The view was crazy, the club was on the 64th floor and had an outside deck overlooking the city:
I finally met up with Matt from Corporate, if you are ever in Cincy make sure to stop through! Also whattup to Joe from Sneaker Bistro in Long Island!
Us with Lexx & Wexx from Tapemasters Inc./Orisue...
The last day of the show it was back to MAGIC and also POOL, another show under the MAGIC umbrella but in the same convention center as MAGIC, to meet with the rest of our brands and scout some new ones.

J.Kim from Freshjive/Agenda...whattup!
Brian from Rogue Status
That night we were all pretty exhausted so we did some shopping/sightseeing/sleeping....the trip was fun but I think we all needed a vacation from our "vacation" at the end...see you next year!
