Nike SB August 09 Releases

Nike SB's August shipment has already dropped in a few stores including across the street from us at Launch! I've seen some people saying it's the strongest drop this year...but I'm not really feelin it that much. I think the "Ron Burgundys" look way too similar to the Shanghai Is...but the Bruins are definitely fresh, probably because Nike hasn't ran out of ideas for this silhouette.

Kidrobot Fall 2009 Part 1 Mens & Womens - Now In Stock!

Part 1 of Kidrobot's Fall line just hit our shelves and as usual is killin' it! The mix of tees, fitteds, hoodies, etc. is great here. This shipment is especially great because KR has gone back to what they used to do -- meaning limited edition, individually numbered hoodies and highlight pieces! The hoodies we got in stock as well as the cardigan are all individually numbered out of 350, so you know barely anyone in the world will be wearing the same thing as you! Plus, they went back to some superior packaging, with all of the t-shirts coming sealed in these dope foil collector's pouches. Crooks & Castles is definitely one of the biggest names in our industry, and they are looking to expand their reign with the release of their new C.S.T.C. line! This is a new sub-line from Crooks that features re-releases of past designs in new, as well as some of the original, colorways! Some of their best sellers and most sought after shirts from the 7+ years that they have been around are available once again including the highly sought after Ruling Elite, High Society, and Shook Ones designs. The shirts are also printed on a heavier cotton shirt just like the originals were and feature slightly different tagging from the main Crooks line. A Day In The Life...July 27th, 2009

I noticed we haven't put up as many Motivation-based pictures on the blog lately (aside from our Inventory pictures), so I decided to start up a new feature on the blog called "A Day In The Life..." that I will post up a few times each week. It will consist of random shots of whats going on around the store that day, and give you a better understanding of what we do day in and day out. Our fam Big Sean just released his first music video, for his single "Getcha Some"! Check it out below -- it features Kanye West and part of it was also filmed at the Bape store in Japan. Mastodon's Oblivion x Troublemaker Remix

I just came across this remix of Mastodon's hit single "Oblivion" off Crack the Skye done by DJ Troublemaker. I'm a fan of the original track, so I was at first skeptical of this remix...but once I started listening I got hooked. It's reminding me a bit of the music from Requiem For A Dream...I don't know if that's a good or bad thing haha.

Second Look: Vans x Crooks & Castles Part II

Just a month ago we showed you a pic of the upcoming Crooks & Castles x Vans collaboration here, now a couple more pics have surfaced. The first is the Chukka, the second the Moda Hi, and as seen below, both come in a black leather upper with minimal white accents. Expect these to release early 2010 at select Vans accounts.

Mosley Tribes x Hellz Bellz Spring 2010

In case you aren't following us on Twitter (or just aren't up on the Twitter game), we just received in some new sunglasses from the Mosley Tribes Summer '09 collection last weekend. Pics will be up soon on the blog and the website.

Anyways, looking ahead to Spring 2010, we see Hellz Bellz collaborating with Mosley Tribes on two pair of sunglasses. One pair are black/red, and the other is done in a brown tortoise colorway. As seen in the pictures, it looks like the bridge of the glasses features a removable section. I'm really liking these...too bad (I think it's safe to assume) these are for the ladies!

Orisue Fall 2009 Preview!

The release of Orisue Fall 2009 is right around the corner, and that season and Winter are always my 2 favorite seasons from them. Not too many companies are really messing with their jackets, longsleeves, and denim, and these 2 seasons are when the majority of these items come out. Anyways they just released a small preview of their Fall collection, check it out below and Im sure there will be more to follow soon!

KiD CuDi ft. Kanye West and Common - I Poke Her Face

KiD CuDi is at it again, putting out this video for "I Poke Her Face" ("Make Her Say"). In CuDi form, this video is not your usual music video. "Day N Nite" exposed us to an animated second world of sorts, now we're seeing two camera angles/views played on top of each other. I wasn't really liking the two views played at the same time, but in the end it's all about the music.

I just saw them live Saturday night and even though they didn't play the song in the video below (hands down my favorite of theirs), they played a lot of their newer stuff which is showing a lot of progression in their sound. They've been around for a few years now but just put out their second LP.

The only complaint I know some people have is the vocals...but check them out anyways!

HUF x Converse (Project) Red Skidgrip Sneakers

Check out these new collaboration shoes between HUF and Converse, for Converse's (Project) Red series. They used the little-known Skidgrip model and it features a tonal HUF H design all over the shoe. These are pretty nice looking to me and the Red lace eyelets at the top set the shoe off. No word on a release date on these yet and they will probably only be available at HUF's flagship stores and not at official retailers such as ourselves!

Fly.Union ft. Big Sean - Poe'd Up

Two of my favorite hip hop acts, Big Sean and Fly.Union just dropped a new song together called Poe'd Up! We get at least 1 person asking daily "Who is this rapping? Its dope!" when we are playing Fly.U in the store and everybody already loves Big Sean around here of course, so Im glad they linked up for a song. Download it below and let me know what you think!

Staple x Kangol 5 Panel Safari Hat

Staple is at it again, this time collaborating with Kangol on a unique take on the 5 Panel cap. This is a 5 panel safari cap, complete with UV protective neck/back flap, which is removable. It's definitely a different take on the usual 5 panel, but unlike most of the Staple collaborations, I don't think I'm feeling this that much.

Air Jordan XI - Space Jam

Jordan Brand is doing things right here, retro-ing (again, arguably) one of the most popular Jordans...again (see the Infrared VIs a few posts ago). These shoes don't need any description at all...you already know these are the shoes Mike wore in the movie Space Jam.

These are a quickstrike release set for November 27th. The end of the year is going to be crazy with retros.

Nike Sportswear Air Toki (Obsidian/Pink)

Nike Sportswear's latest colorway of the Air Toki features a full obsidian upper with subtle white and pink accents. This colorway will drop later this year at select Quickstrike accounts.

I don't know if it's because I'm not able to wear sneakers to work or if I'm growing up (let's hope not), but I'm starting to really feel simple colorways that are cut cleanly. These Tokis aren't too flashy but they definitely will turn heads, especially if someone gets a look at the sole!

Air Jordan 1 Retro Phat Premier

Near the end of the year a few Air Jordan I Retro Phat Premiers are going to release. The blue/red colorway drop October 1st, the black/green drop in mid October, and the strongest colorway, red/black, drop in December. I'm really feeling the black/red colorway because they highly resemble the Unlucky SB Dunk...and won't be as much of a hit on your bank account as the Unluckys.

Retail is set at $110 USD and will be available at select Jordan Brand retailers

Mishka x Fucked Up "Eye Fucked Up New York" Tee

Mishka has collaborated with Toronto Hardcore band Fucked Up's vocalist to release this twist on the "I (heart) NY" design. With New York city having one of the largest Hardcore scenes back in the 80s, it's appropriate that a present day Hardcore band pays honor to the city where it (arguably) all started. Since I was into Punk/HC/Metal before getting into Hip-Hop, I love to see designs that have the punk influence...and Mishka comes through with them!

Air Jordan Force 13 Holiday 2008

As the Jordan Brand continues to release the Air Force 1 Fusion line, the next up is the Jordan 13. In my opinion, the original 13s were one of the best looking Jordan shoes to release...and these might be the first Jordan Fusions I would pick up, despite not being into Forces. Back in the day (middle school haha), I really wanted the Bred 13s...but never got them (well, my parents wouldn't buy them for me).

These release on November 21st (White/Black) and December 19th (Black/Red).

Dope Couture Summer Lookbook!

Dope Couture just released the lookbook for their Summer collection, which is set to hit all of their retailers this week and next. We will actually have our shipment in stock here at Motivation tomorrow! You can check out the lookbook below for now though, it features their whole Summer collection and we are getting most of the styles in stock, but just not every color. Terry Urban & Orisue "Songs To Skate To" Mixtape!

As the title states, our fam Terry Urban linked up with Orisue to bring you this "Songs To Skate To" mixtape that features some killer tracks off of some classic skate videos! Orisue has their own skate team and Terry has been skating since forever so this mixtape definitely makes sense. The cover also features a design from one of Orisue's t-shirts. There is a good mix of music represented on here and you know anything Terry puts out is heat, so make sure you download this one for the next time you are out skating or at least exercising!

Premium Stripes New Era Fitted Hats Now In Stock!

We just got in a new style of hat from New Era's Import program, the Premium Stripes fitted hat. It features large embroidered horizontal stripes across the front and the Team's symbol on the side of the hat. The ones we got in are done in team colors and the teams we got are our hometown University of Michigan Wolverines and the San Jose Sharks! These are the Yellow Lobster Dunk SBs, they were only made for Concepts' friends and family and were given out a few weeks ago when their Blue Lobsters released. I think they are much much better looking than the Blues....hopefully they will release to the general public at some point!

Mishka's Metal Influences

It was somewhat of a coincidence that I went over to Mishka's site and then I got to checking out the full Summer collection...and saw the tee below! I'm guessing that most of you who follow Motivation aren't really into Metal, but for me seeing this tee this was quite a nice surprise. The art is borrowed from a late 80s/early 90s Thrash Metal band, Coroner, off their second album Punishment for Decadence. I love the flip that Mishka did of this shirt. Expand your musical tastes and check out the band in the video below!

Nike SB July Releases

Nike SB's July line should be releasing soon (or maybe already has in certain stores)...and I hadn't even seen half of these yet! I saw pics of the Swoosh Life blazer (first pic) and was really liking that colorway, but now I'm also really feeling the blue dunk and the khaki Janoski pro model. The Dunk His aren't too bad, but the Dunk Mids are reminding me a bit too much of the Fender Mids that released a while ago...not enough going on with them to make them stand out. The Tre A.D.s are perfect for anybody from Oakland or any Athletics fan. Overall, July's releases are looking pretty good!

Supra Black Tape Collection

I've seen this collection all over the internet recently, and even though it's an all-black collection, Supra managed to add the small details that set these apart from other all-black shoes. As the name of the collection implies, these shoes are detailed to look as if they're wrapped in electrical tape. The red accents are subtle but just enough to put these over the top. Since these are in the TUF collection, they'll hold up a lot better than regular models. These are already available online and at Supra retailers.

Air Jordan 1 Retro High "Ostrich"

We've seen the Jordan I being re-released in quite a handful of new colorways over the past year or so, with the Do the Right Thing Is being the most recent I can remember. Jordan Brand is now supposedly releasing an all black/ostrich leather version of the original Jordan. I don't know if I'm really feeling these all that much, but I do know that the ballistic nylon sections of the shoe definitely were placed well. The toebox will pretty much never crease up, so as long as you keep these clean, they'll look as fresh as the day you bought them...that's always a plus!

These are rumored to release the first week of July.

Air Maxim 1 - Nike Sportswear Fall 2009

Nike Sportswear just did a little work and updated the Air Max 1 to meet today's performance requirements. The weight was reduced to 10.1 ounces, roughly 1/3 of the original weight. This was done using "Acespan mesh," seen under the swoosh, which allows the shoe to better conform to the foot and also provides more strength than the usual materials. In addition, the midsole was injected in 3 parts, further increasing the cushioning and support.

I had the chance to get my hands on these at a Niketown and just wasn't feeling the mesh on the upper. It gave the shoe an almost plastic appearance. However, the more I look at the pics, the more I'm willing to give these a second chance.
