Check out these pictures from the My Life Is Like A Movie concert...oh wait....there is none because this joint was shady as fuck! Here is the recap of a horrible event:
Me, Drew, and intern Jay took the hour long drive up from Ann Arbor to Detroit for this concert which was supposed to feature Chip Tha Ripper, Ro Spit, P.L., and more. The venue, Bert's Warehouse, was shady as fuck from as soon as we arrived because they had a mandatory $3 coat check (even if you dont want to take your coat off) and they tried to charge me $25 to get in and not $20 as advertised! After some technical difficulties, the opening performers went on, and the music was real low throughout their sets.
Then, it was time for Chip to go on but I notice some employee pulling out and wrapping up all these wires --- Chip didn't even end up performing because the promoter and/or venue for the show didn't end up paying him! Please note to all 80 people that attended (yes it was promoted that badly) that this was NOT Chip's fault, but the promoter/venue's fault because business is business and if the money isn't there, the service that the artist is providing is not happening.
To me, this is just fucking embarrassing for our area here in Michigan and frankly pisses me off that a venue/promoter would do this. Dj Mo Beatz also got called off by the promotor from Djing the show right before it started! Bad business. Let me give you a business tip -- sometimes you just have to take the L and pay up to save your reputation, and thats what should have been done by the venue/promoter in this case. I could really go more into it but I wont -- but just think about how much time was wasted for everyone involved, and for people like me that just wanted to see the show. I recommend you dont go near anything that involves that venue/promoter again -- I sure wont.
Anyways, had to get that off my chest. Thanks to Big Shan, P.L., Ro Spit, and everyone for performing and not making my drive out there a waste, and shouts to Slab Up, Burn Rubber, Revive, and everyone I saw up there. And I apologize if anyone came to the event because of the flyer I posted below, although with the amount of people there, I doubt anyone did.
